A quick tip on Integra timing

Hello reader(s),

I wanted to share some valuable information I learned today about setting the timing on my Acura Integra.  Basically I started the day with an oil change.  But the car has been leaking from the distributor for a while and it's been nagging me. It's a common place on the head for Integras to leak oil along with the cam seal and the VTEC solenoid on VTEC equipped cars.

I looked over the DIY's and I decided to go for it.  The one I mainly referred to was on Team-Integra.net.
It was easy to replace and only involved removing three easily accessible 12mm bolts. Then you remove the O-ring on the dizzy housing and replace it with a new part.  The Honda part number is 30110-PA1-732.  I suspect that a regular O-ring the same size would work as well.

Anyway I was worried about readjusting the timing.  But after looking at the video embedded below I thought I could handle it. And really it was a piece of cake.  The car has two different ways to control the timing.  The computer electronically controls timing and the distributor in relation to the cam also controls timing.  The distributor on the Integra does not have enough adjustment for one to really mess up the engine when adjusting the timing.  I twisted mine both directions, almost though the entire adjustment range and didn't even get a a back fire. Anyway if you want to see how it is done check out the video from EricTheCarGuy on Youtube.
